Welcome to the Longfield Academy Careers Education, Information and Guidance website pages
The aim of the academy is to provide the highest quality Careers Education, Advice and Guidance that broadens the horizons of all students and ensures they reach their full potential. CEIAG is to help students find out about careers and the world of work, develop employability skills and take responsibility for planning their own career pathway – whatever route or pathway that might be.
CEIAG takes place in a number of ways including tutor time; assemblies; visits to employers, colleges and universities; visiting speakers; careers interviews; and within curriculum areas.
The academy employs a qualified careers adviser, Gill Smith. All year 11s receive at least one guidance meeting but any pupil can request a meeting or attend a drop in session on a Wednesday lunch time. Parents are also welcome to contact Gill or come into school for an appointment. Gill can be contacted via reception or by email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Gill is supported by Cath Gibbins who manages CEIAG and is responsible for key stage four/five transition. Cath can be contacted via reception or by email email@example.com.
Technical and Further Education Act 2017
Under this act we are required to ensure there is an opportunity for a range of education and training providers to access pupils during the relevant phase of their education for the purpose of informing them about approved technical education qualifications or apprenticeships.
